According to the latest report released by the ASEAN Automotive Federation (AAF), the sales of motor vehicles in Myanmar jumped 25.4% from January to November 2019 compared to 1 year prior (15,365 to 19,274). Though at a very low level in terms of volumes, it is the highest increase in all ASEAN member countries (data is not available for Cambodia).
The AAF also released in the same report the production of cars in respective countries for the same period. Though with by far the lowest volume numbers, Myanmar again boasts the highest progress in percentage, from 10.863 to 14,042 units, or 29.3%.
Thailand remains the main automotive production hub in the region while Indonesia is the first market for new car sales.
