China’s CITIC Construction, a subsidiary of the state-owned CITIC Group, has partnered with the Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation (MAPCO). The project is worth US$ 500 million, involving high-end rice mills and agri-business service centers across the country, according to an article in DealstreetAsia. The rice mills will be located in Twante Township, Nay Pyi Taw, Kyauktaw, Rakhine State and Myaung Mya Township. “The establishment of the high-end rice mills will boost both the local and export market,” said Ye Min Aung, managing director of MAPCO. He added that the project is expected to begin this year. The agri-business service centers will also be constructed in 33 townships across the country. He also said that the company welcomed investors who were interested in capitalizing on opportunities in Myanmar’s growing agricultural market.
