Dagon plans agro expansion

Local company Dagon International is reportedly planning to develop a large-scale industrial park in Myanmar dedicated to food processing. In an interview with Nikkei Asian Review, the company’s chairman U Win Aung said that Myanmar currently lacks food factories that are up to international standards, a gap that the new project would help fill. The plan is for the park to be built on 200-hectares of land in East Dagon, attracting about 80 companies that are a mixture of local and international firms. The project will cost an estimated US$100 million to $150 million, Win Aung’s son, and company CEO, U Thurane Aung, said.
