The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released last week its 2019 edition of the “Business-to-Consumer (B2C) E-commerce Index” in which Myanmar classifies at the 126th place out of 152 assessed countries.
The UNCTAD B2C E-commerce Index measures an economy’s preparedness to support online shopping based on four indicators with a high correlation to online shopping: Internet server access, postal service reliability, share of population who use the Internet, and share of population aged above 15 who have an account with a financial institution or mobile-money-service provider.
Elsewhere in the region, Singapore ranked third on the global list while Malaysia came in 34th, Thailand 48th, Vietnam 64th, Indonesia 84th, the Philippines 89th, Laos 113rd, and Cambodia 122nd.
