American hotelier Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is set to open a high-profile hotel in Yangon, which was originally to be managed by the Kempinski Hotel Group, according to industry reports. An international report said that the project, on Strand Road, is scheduled to open in the “winter” of 2018. The 209-room Rosewood Yangon will be located in the New Law Courts heritage building, which was constructed in 1927. Other Rosewood projects in Asia include properties in Beijing and Sanya in China, and Phuket in Thailand. It is also planning a new project in Bangkok, and at least two other properties in mainland China and Hong Kong.
