The Ministry of Commerce published the latest official statistics on the value of the Thailand-Myanmar border trade from 1 October 2019 to 1 May 2020 this fiscal year, and the value is down by more than 10% compared to last year. For the first seven months of the current fiscal year, the trade value amounted to slightly over USD 1.4 billion, a decrease of USD 170 million against last FY.
Myanmar exports mostly agricultural and fishery products to Thailand while importing cosmetics, food products, machinery and raw industrial goods such as cement and fertilizers. Though border trade with Thailand is down, the country’s overall trade is up by USD 351 million at nearly USD 6.76 billion.
