The Htoo Group of Companies is planning to construct a zip line at the Yangon Zoological Garden, according to a local report. The site is currently managed by the company, but under the ownership of the Forest Department, which is part of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. U Thi Ha, vice chairman of Htoo Group, told a newspaper that the company would apply for permission from a number of groups, including the regional government and the Yangon City Development Committee. “Work on the project will start only after receiving the proper authoritsation even though the regional government has agreed to the project in principle,” he said. As well as the Yangon Zoo, Htoo Group also manages zoos in Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, a safari park and a planetarium in the capital.
