Amata eyes Myanmar market growth

Thai developer Amata Corp is planning to develop new industrial estates in neighbouring countries, including in Myanmar, according to an international report. The article quoted the company’s chief marketing officer, Viboon Kromadit, as saying that it planned to tap into China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative, which is expected to improve connectivity within Southeast Asia. “We believe that China will continue to invest outside its homeland and massive Chinese direct investment is expected to come into CLMV [Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam] where China’s Belt and Road passes through,” he was quoted as saying. According to the report, Amata is currently developing an industrial estate in Bien Hoa, Vietnam and a special zone on 480 hectares of land in Rayong, Thailand. The majority of tenants in both projects are Chinese, the report said.
