KBZ and PTT to partner on oil project

Kanbawza Group (KBZ) and Thailand’s PTT are to form a joint-venture to develop of an oil terminal and a retail business. The operations will be formed by KBZ’s Brighter Energy Co and Brighter Energy Retail Co partnering with PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Co Ltd (PTTOR), according to an article in the Myanmar Times. The project will include the procurement of petroleum products, management of the jetty, an oil storage terminal, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling plants and the wholesale business of petroleum products. It will take place in the Thilawa area on the outskirts of Yangon. Upon completion expected in 2021, the project will become the largest oil terminal in Myanmar with a capacity of one million barrels of oil and 4,500 metric tonnes of LPG. The retail business expansion seeks to bring successful brands to the Myanmar consumer. Brands under PTTOR include PTT Station, LPG or Cooking Gas, and Café Amazon.
