The Yangon Region Government has established a management committee that will begin inspecting condominiums in the commercial capital. The committee is tasked with checking whether they meet the requirements set out in the Condominium Law. “We will inspect the buildings to see if they meet the requirements,” U Myo Myint, a member of the Yangon Condominium Management Committee, was quoted as saying in an article in Myanmar Business Today. “We will give them the condominium status if they meet all of the requirements, otherwise they will be regarded as normal apartments”. According to the new law, condominiums must be more than 20,000 square feet and buildings must be six floors and above, with an elevator. The regional government has so far granted 32 condominium developer licences, according to the report.
