Myanmar President arrives in India to hold talks with top leadership and strengthen bilateral ties

Accompanied by the First Lady Daw Cho Cho and a delegation of officials, Myanmar’s President U Win Myint is visiting its Indian neighbour on a 4-day long official visit.

Started Wednesday February 26th, Myanmar’s president is set to meet President Ram Nath Kovind as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to sign agreements and MoUs to bolster bilateral ties.

India has been a major trading partner of Myanmar since the 2 countries signed the India-Myanmar trade agreement in 1970.
Bilateral trade stands at USD 1.6 billion in 2017-18. India is the 5th largest export destination for Myanmar and 6th largest source of imports according to figures from the Indian Embassy in Myanmar.
