Ministry of Commerce released the trade numbers for the first ten months of the current fiscal year (October 2019 – July 2020) and trade between Myanmar and its fellow ASEAN members reached USD 9.94 billion over the period.
Myanmar registered a trade deficit importing over USD 6.32 billion while exporting over USD 3.6 billion with the block – which just celebrated its 53rd anniversary as reported last week.
Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia were registered as the top three trade partners among ASEAN countries, registering total trade values of over USD 3.9 billion, USD 3.3 billion and USD 1 billion, respectively.
For reference the value of bilateral trade with China was USD 11.39 billion in the 2018-2019 FY.
