State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, accompanied by a delegation of Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and other officials, attended the ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Commemorative Summit in Busan this week to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the East Asian Nation and the Southeast Asian bloc.
Welcomed by President Mr Moon Jae-in, Myanmar’s State Counsellor was joined by several leaders of ASEAN member countries and heads of government ministries. At the Summit, the State Counsellor praised the ASEAN-ROK collaborations for the past 30 years, discussed future potentials to promote partner relations, and signed MoUs on fishery sector, vocational training programs and environmental conservation.
The ASEAN Summit in ROK is the last international event the State Counsellor will attend before personally leading a delegation to the Hague to counter genocide charges brought before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) by Gambia (see related article).
